Punched or unpunched refers to whether you would like to add a nameplate to your halter. Our punched halters have holes that fit our plates already built-in on the left (near side) of the halter. If you do not want a custom horse halter nameplate, simply choose an unpunched halter.
Visit our site Plates by Horse Education Company to design nameplates to match your halter. These can be easily installed at home just a screw driver.
I am not able to punch holes in both sides of the halter for you but this can be easily done at home.
- Horses at the highest levels of competition that are soft and only need a light touch to be reminded
- Horses that are excitable and struggle to concentrate and crave more leadership
- A fair, but effective alternative to a stud chain
- Studs and young stock working on ground manners
- Riding - as a bit alternative that still has "stop" for things jumping out of the bushes at you
- Horses that have an existing pull away habit that you are working to reform (I suggest a 14' working rope as well as the habit is usually a combination of factors that giving them some panic room, whilst still safely keeping ahold of them can correct more rapidly)
- 95% of horses to great in the Classic Leather or Classic Nylon version of the Hybrid Halter - but if you are a trainer or have a very special horse that suits the above - the lariat version is a gamechanger.
Triple stitched leather. Smoothed and darkened edges. Double buckle poll adjustment. Solid brass hardware. Buckle tongues made of stainless steel for extra strength. Stiff waxed lariat rope.
Will breakaway at poll in case of severe pullback. Replacement crown straps available.
A rope or flat headcollar starts correcting the horse as soon as you pick up on it and unconfortably asking him to twist his head while moving and doing what is requested.
That's not very nice. Or motivating.
Our exclusive design gives the horse a chance to be right before any correction. The sliding ring works as a pre-signal. Your horse should respond to that alone. If he doesn't, only then do the pressure knots engage to give a very gentle reminder and enforcement. This reinforcement feels similar to pressing your first two fingers on one hand into the soft space between your fingers on the other hand.
There is no movement on the Hybrid Headcollar besides the sliding ring - the entire top part of the halter rests quietly on their face - giving them only one sensory cue to pay attention to. The flat poll helps protect from injury if he should get scared and pull back and our products are carefully designed to breakaway and be replaceable should that happen.
The Hybrid Headcollar offers more control than a control headcollar when your horse does have an emotional moment and needs support - but it is not a control headcollar. It is a full time replacement headcollar that is beautifully made and more comfortable than your horse's current headcollar. Good horses deserve to be rewarded with less annoying humans. Horses that are struggling to learn deserve to be treated with dignity and respect while they figure out how to be good citizens in our human world.
Granted an official patent for its innovative design, the Hybrid Headcollar® is the first major revolution in horse halters in 25 years and has been put to the test under the widest possible range of horse handling conditions over the last ten years.
