In general:
- Small Quarter Horses and Arabians under 14.2 will wear a small.
- Quarter Horses, Arabians, TB's and Warmbloods will be in an Average size (equivalent to a Cob).
- Horses over 15 hands, sport horses, paints, large headed TB's will be in a Large size (equivalent to a Full).
The rope undercarriage will elongate by 10-15% in the first week of use. If you can get the halter on and fasten the buckle, it will usually finish off to be a perfect fit even it appears a bit snug to start.
Punched or unpunched for nameplate refers to whether you would like to add a nameplate to your halter. Our punched halters have holes that fit our plates already built-in on the left (near side) of the halter. If you do not want a custom horse halter nameplate, simply choose an unpunched halter.
You can order your plates directly on this site and they will arrive in 7-14 days after your halter arrives, which will allow you time to determine you have the correct fit and style for your horse's training needs. These are beautifully deep engraved and paint filled, truly heirloom quality. Once your plate arrives it attaches to your halter in less than two minutes and we include all of the instructions and fitting you require for this elegant finishing touch.
We are not able to punch holes in both sides of the halter for you but this can be easily done at home.

Safety Features
You will never need to cut a horse out of a Hybrid Halter like you do a rope halter in case of panic. Three safeties come standard in our leather styles.
They are fully repairable with our mail-in repair service should you ever require a repair. A variety of at home replacement parts are also available to keep your halter in use for years to come.

A Design That Asks Before telling
A rope or flat headcollar starts correcting the horse as soon as you pick up on it and uncomfortably asking him to twist his head while moving and doing what is requested.
That's not very nice. Or motivating.
Our exclusive design gives the horse a chance to be right before any correction. The sliding ring works as a pre-signal. Your horse should respond to that alone. If he doesn't, only then do the pressure knots engage to give a very gentle reminder and enforcement. This reinforcement feels similar to pressing your first two fingers on one hand into the soft space between your fingers on the other hand.
There is no movement on the Hybrid Headcollar besides the sliding ring - the entire top part of the halter rests quietly on their face - giving them only one sensory cue to pay attention to. The flat poll helps protect from injury if he should get scared and pull back and our products are carefully designed to breakaway and be replaceable should that happen.
The Hybrid Headcollar offers more control than a control headcollar when your horse does have an emotional moment and needs support - but it is not a control headcollar. It is a full time replacement headcollar that is beautifully made and more comfortable than your horse's current headcollar. Good horses deserve to be rewarded with less annoying humans.
